no one seems to be talking about this, but i’m personally pretty excited! people have been using forums and journal websites and places like tumblr and twitter and instant messaging to roleplay with each other for ages, but there always seems to be an issue because those sites and clients weren’t designed with roleplayers in mind. a few of them come pretty close to being perfect, but there’s so often a bunch of annoying limitations because they were designed for something other than RP and we’re not the target audience.
i got an email recently about a site called RoleplayX - and this is what the creator has to say about it:
For years, volunteers of my insane projects have asked me why I haven’t built a site custom tailored for roleplayers — just roleplayers. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve heard “Forums just don’t do it”, “Facebook deleted my account”, “the other websites are just crap”, and my favorite line — “we need something better.”
So today I’m officially announcing my third insane project, RoleplayX.com. RPX is a platform specifically dedicated to the art of storytelling — which is something I’ve always loved to do with my own projects.
RPX allows you to create, manage and participate in unlimited roleplays from a vast array of original and existing fandoms. You can create unlimited characters, join unlimited roleplays and finally have one central website to keep track of what’s going on. RPX will host many unique features that other websites just don’t have, to make managing and participating in roleplays easier than ever.
the features on the website look pretty neat! and their goal is only $2000 and they’re getting pretty close already.
i can’t tell you what to do with your money, pal, but this seems like as good a cause as any. if you have high hopes (i know i do), maybe signal boost this post - and click through to the website and read up some more. and maybe consider donating?
