Wizarding Wednesdays: Allison Randazzo

Wizarding Wednesdays with Allison Randazzo
For those of you new to myHogwarts, we send out weekly emails (on Wednesdays) to give you a behind-the-scenes look of the massive staff behind Hogwarts and how they make it all possible. Here is this week’s Wizarding Wednesday…
myHogwarts (MH): Tell us about yourself and how you got involved with myHogwarts?
Allison Randazzo (AR): I’m 21 years old, I live somewhere between the US and Canada, I travel frequently (especially for Potter events), I’m a photographer and an artist and my soul is owned by Keith and his various projects. I’ve been working with Wizarding Life Networks since the first or second issue of Wizarding Life, and I’ve been involved in every project since. myHogwarts is just the most recent in a long line of awesome from this group, I couldn’t stay away.
MH: What is your role on MyHogwarts staff?
AR: Court Jester? Hahaha…I don’t really have a title. I kind of help out wherever I can. Generally I like to have a hand in creative decisions and the more artistic areas of the site/project. Now I’m kind of branching out into the relations department, recruiting talent and that sort of thing. The thing I’m most excited about is a very artistic endeavour that I’m not sure I’m allowed to talk about yet, but it’s shaping up to be very cool and as far as I know, unprecedented.
MH: Can you tell us anything about what kind of “talent” we might be seeing in the future?
AR: Oooh lala. Well I can’t give too much away but I can say we’re working on getting a lot of people to work with us. Some you’ll recognize, some you won’t, but should. I think it’s going to be a great way to get some stimulating conversation back in the fandom. The kind of people you’d hear from or see at conventions.
MH: What are you most looking forward to seeing come to life from the Harry Potter books through myHogwarts?
AR: EVERYTHING. I can’t wait to hear the Choir! There’s so much potential there. I’m glad we’re working closely with the Harry Potter Alliance, of which I am a huge advocate of. The textbooks—I can’t wait to see the finished product and what everyone thinks of them. The teamwork, the originality, the sharing of art and fiction and experiences are the things I love most about this fandom, and I’m sure myHogwarts is going to foster that even further.
MH: For those who don’t know, can you explain what the Harry Potter Alliance is?
AR: That’s exactly the type of thing I’m excited about. I hope that the HPA can reach even more people than ever before through this platform. The Harry Potter Alliance is a non-profit that uses the messages presented to us by Rowling in Harry Potter to motivate young people to be activisits about things like literacy and human rights. http://thehpalliance.org has all the info!
